Pets of CCLD – Part 3

Some of the pet parents of the Chemung County Library District will be introducing us to their most adorable family members…

Hello! My name is Phantom! I was adopted by my momma when I was only 4 months old after Grandma caught me sneaking into the outdoor cat run to steal food! It took a while before they caught me, though, which is how I got my name.

PhantomMomma always calls me the Protector and Guardian of the house. She calls me an overgrown kitten as well, because I never stop playing and running around! We have moved quite a bit and it’s always a little scary but as long as I have Momma with me, I’m alright.

I love to steal Momma’s small crochet items to play with while she’s trying to finish a project. I also might have a slight addiction to cat nip. I always make sure to sing the Song of my People from 5-5:30am every morning because I know Momma loves my beautiful voice. I hate closed doors, love hiding in the kitchen cupboards, and watching birds and squirrels from my window ledges. But most importantly, I always lie on Momma’s chest when she’s having a bad day to make her happy. (And make funny faces when I’m relaxed.) I fall asleep on my pillow next to her every night. She takes care of me, so I take care of her.

Phantom

I have 3 brothers! One lives with Poppa but Momma always makes sure I get to see my big bro, Maurice, once in a while. And then my dragon brother, Ithaca, and fishy brother, Jessica, live with us! I have such a big family full of love!

PlutoHi! My name is Pluto and I am a one year old puppy! I am a really good boy who loves to zoom around the house, drag my humans on walks around the neighborhood, and sleep between my humans at night. When I grow up, I want to be a guard dog! I practice all day long by sitting in the living room window and barking at every animal I see. I even protect my humans from the tissues in the garbage! Tissues must be shredded and eaten, no matter how many times my human tells me “no”. They are pretty good humans. They give me lots of treats! I’m so glad they adopted me from the Chemung County Humane Society and SPCA!

RosieHello there, you may call me Rosie. My human adopted me from the Chemung County Humane Society and SPCA. I am a young lady who enjoys the company of others, but prefers not to be held. I need my space and I will not be manhandled. I hold dominion over the basement of my dwelling where I sleep on empty suitcases and play with humans when they visit. I demand food at every hour of the day by standing near my food dish and waiting for someone to pass by. I loudly proclaim, “MEOW!” I’m a chatty kitty, so feel to stop by for a visit. Don’t forget to bring some kibble. You’re welcome.

Buddha & Haverly

These are Buddha & Haverly. They are Newfoundlands. Newfoundlands are a Giant dog breed. They are prone to stomach and joint/bone issues. Please research and be able to care for Giant dogs before adopting them.

Buddha (black) just turned 7 years old. He stands 5′ 3″ tall on back legs and weighs 185 lbs. He loves belly rubs. He loves attention from cats, but is also allergic to them.

Haverly (brown) will be 3 years old in December. She is smaller, standing about 4′ tall on back legs, and weighs 95 lbs. She loves cheek and chest rubs.

They both love their fruits and veggies, and cheese!

Lagertha

This is Lagertha. She is 7 years old and named after a Viking shield maiden. She rules the house but is also a cuddlebug. She loves drinking from the faucet.

Memphis
This is Memphis. He is 6 years old, has gray tiger stripes but his belly has cheetah spots. He loves to rub on Buddha’s face.

Jean-Luc

And this is Jean-Luc, who is 8 years old and a Maine Coon. He’s lived with us since he was 5. He loves all the cuddles in the world, and likes to curl up in blankets.
