CCLD Preparing for Re-Opening

With recent developments related to New York’s PAUSE order, the Chemung County Library District, which includes branches in Elmira, Horseheads, West Elmira, Big Flats and Van Etten, will begin phased re-openings of their physical buildings in the coming weeks.

The health and safety of library patrons and staff is of paramount importance, so the District is following guidelines and recommendations from a variety of trusted sources, including the Center for Disease Control, New York State Government and Chemung County, as we make decisions regarding reopening procedures.

Each library plans to institute thorough sanitation and hygiene protocols to ensure the safety and health of library users and staff. Staff will begin to report on June 15th. We will reopen our bookdrops on that date. We ask that patrons start returning their materials so they can be quarantined and cleaned prior to reopening to the public. We will start to offer curbside pickup on June 29th.

Continued updates on our branches’ closures and re-openings will be posted on the district website www.ccld.ny.us or Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/chemunglibs.

As a reminder, you can access digital library services, such as ebooks, e-audios, digital magazines, and online classes with your library card at no cost: https://ccld.lib.ny.us/.
