June is Audiobook Month

June is audiobook month

If you are planning to travel this summer and are facing a long car ride, here are some audio book recommendations to make the time pass a bit more quickly. All of these titles are read by the author, which gives an added element of listening pleasure as who better to read a narrative than the person who wrote it? All of these audiobooks on CD are available at Steele Memorial Library, pick one up or request a copy today!

“Becoming” by Michelle Obama  – “With unerring honesty and lively wit, she describes her triumphs and her disappointments, both public and private. A deeply personal reckoning of a woman of soul and substance who has steadily defied expectations.”

“Grateful American” by Gary Sinise – “Gary Sinise shares the never-before-told story of his journey from trouble-making Chicago kid to cofounder of the legendary Steppenwolf Theater Company, world-famous actor, and tireless advocate for America’s active duty defenders, veterans, and first responders.”

“Life will be the Death of Me…and you too!” by Chelsea Handler  – “The funny, sad, super-honest, all-true story of Chelsea Handler’s year of self-discovery—featuring a nerdily brilliant psychiatrist, a shaman, four Chow Chows, some well-placed security cameras, various family members…”

“Nanaville” by Anna Quindlen – “Quindlen offers thoughtful and telling observations about her new role, no longer mother and decision-maker but secondary character and support to the parents of her grandson.”

“Sea Stories” by William H McRaven – The Admiral’s audiobook is “an unforgettable look back on one man’s incredible life, from childhood days sneaking into high-security nuclear sites to a day job of hunting terrorists and rescuing hostages.”

“Moment of Lift” by Melinda Gates – “In this candid and inspiring book, Gates traces her awakening to the link between women’s empowerment and the health of societies.”
