There are several offices up for grabs that affect our local citizens.
Here is a list.
US Senator from NY: Incumbent Democrat Kirsten Gillibrand is running against Republican Chele Farley.
US Representative New York’s 23rd Congressional District (located in the southwestern portion of the state and includes Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Allegany, Steuben, Yates, Schuyler, Seneca, Tompkins and Chemung counties and parts of Ontario and Tioga counties.)
Republican Incumbent Tom Reed is facing off against Democratic Challenger Tracy Mitrano. Independent Candidates are James Clasby and John Hertzler.
NYS Governor: Democratic Incumbent Andrew Cuomo is facing a primary challenge from Democrat Cynthia Nixon. Facing Cuomo in the election are Stephanie Miner (Independent) and Republican Marcus Molinaro. Molinaro, running unopposed on the Conservative and Reform Party tickets, faces a Republican primary with Pankaj Shah.
NYS Comptroller: Incumbent Democrat Thomas DiNapoli is up against Republican Jonathan Trichter and Mark Dunlea of the Green Party.
NYS Attorney General: (Incumbent Eric Schneiderman resigned on May 8, 2018).
Democratic Candidates: Leecia Eve, Letitia James, Sean Patrick Maloney, Zephyr Teachout.
Republican Candidate: Keith Wofford
Independent: Vincent Messina, Jr.
Reform: Michael Diederich, Jr., Christopher B. Garvey, Nancy Sliwa
Working Families: Kenneth Schaeffer
NY State Senate. District 58 (five counties across the Southern Tier and Finger Lakes regions: Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben and Yates counties, and a portion of Tompkins County (the city and town of Ithaca, and the towns of Enfield, Newfield and Ulysses)).
Running for this seat are: Republican Incumbent Thomas O’Mara and Democratic Challengers Amanda Kirchgessner and Michael Lausell. The Democrats face a primary on Thursday, September 13, 2018.
NYS Assembly District 124: This district includes the Town of Maine in Broome County; the City of Elmira; the towns of Ashland, Baldwin, Big Flats, Chemung, Elmira, Horseheads, Southport, and the villages of Elmira Heights, Horseheads, and Wellsburg in Chemung County; and all of Tioga County.
Republican Incumbent Christopher Friend is being challenged by two Democratic candidates: Randy Reid and Bill Batrowny. The Democrats face a primary on Thursday, September 13, 2018.
